How CTS packages work for schools

Two base IT packages (Essentials or Total Care), plus two cybersecurity layers (Protection and Advisory) you can add to either one. Most charters CTS works with run TCP plus MCP.

What the packages cover, and what's separate

A quick scope clarifier so the numbers in the calculator below make sense. The packages above are recurring managed services. Hardware, repairs, and project work are billed separately.

Included in the monthly package

Management, support, monitoring, and break/fix

  • Unlimited business-hours helpdesk (TCP) or escalation support (ESS)
  • 24x7 network + server monitoring
  • Network device break/fix included. Every network device under monitoring (switches, firewalls, WAPs, controllers, UPS, cameras, access-control, printers) is covered for diagnosis, configuration changes, and break/fix as part of the monthly. You don't pay per-incident on those.
  • Patch management, AV, endpoint policies
  • Dedicated Client Manager + quarterly strategic reviews
  • E-Rate planning support
  • Cybersecurity layer if MCP / MCA are added
Separate from the monthly package

Hardware purchases, end-user device repairs, projects

  • New hardware purchases (Chromebooks, laptops, switches, WAPs, anything physical): we can quote and procure on your behalf, or you buy direct from your preferred vendor. Hardware is a one-time cost separate from the monthly fee. This applies whether you're standing up a new fleet or replacing a network device that's beyond repair.
  • End-user device repairs (Chromebooks, staff Surface / Dell laptops): billed per-unit at the rate card below. No retainer required. Network device break/fix is NOT on this rate card; see the green card to the left.
  • Out-of-scope project work: low-voltage cabling, major migrations, custom integrations. Billed at our hourly T&M rate.
  • Additional onsite days: beyond the scheduled days included in the package.

End-user device repair rate card

Scope: these per-unit rates apply to end-user devices only (student Chromebooks, staff Surface, Dell Windows laptops). Network device break/fix is already included in the monthly package under the monitoring scope: switches, firewalls, WAPs, controllers, UPS, cameras, access-control, printers. Hardware replacement (a switch that's beyond repair and needs a new one) is a separate procurement.

Per-unit pricing. Devices with motherboard failures, liquid damage, or extensive physical damage are recommended for replacement rather than repair.

Other a la carte rates

Time and Materials (T&M)

Out-of-scope work is billed at our standard T&M rate, quoted per engagement: low-voltage cabling, major migrations, custom integrations, bespoke training. All T&M work is scoped and approved in writing before it starts.

A note on website maintenance and content uploads

Website maintenance and CMS content updates aren't part of our standard EDU packages. CTS can support specific one-off tasks (Squarespace edits, posting documents, theme tweaks) on a T&M basis, but for ongoing website / marketing work we typically recommend a dedicated CMS or web partner. Happy to talk through what makes sense on the call.

Defaults below are CTS's best estimate for Uncharted Shores based on public data. Adjust any number that doesn't match reality. Totals update as you type.

1. Base package

ESS skips per-user and per-student-device pricing (it assumes you have internal IT handling tickets). TCP is all-inclusive.

2. Staff & devices

Staff (users) Faculty + admin on managed accounts.
Student devices Managed Chromebooks, laptops, tablets used by students.
Network devices (non-E-Rate) Switches, firewalls, WAPs, controllers, UPS, cameras, access-control. Tiered. USA is on Cisco Meraki; final count to be confirmed during onboarding.
Servers Windows/Linux servers under CTS management. Flat per-server rate.
Phone systems Managed phone systems (on-prem or cloud). Flat per-system rate.
Internet connections (ISPs) Each managed circuit. Flat per-ISP rate.

3. Onsite days / month

First day each month is included with the package. After that, the per-day rate kicks in (rate depends on how many days you book).

4. E-Rate Managed Services (MIBS)

Include MIBS line items
E-Rate Category 2 eligible. CTS bills full price; you receive E-Rate reimbursement at your C2 discount rate (USA is at 80%).
MIBS core network devices E-Rate Cat 2 MIBS-eligible core devices. $60 / device / month.
MIBS WiFi / UPS devices E-Rate Cat 2 MIBS-eligible WAPs or UPS units. $12 / device / month.
C2 discount rate USA's E-Rate Category 2 discount (defaults to 80%).

5. Cybersecurity add-ons

Managed Cyber Protection (MCP)
24x7 SOC + EDR + cloud threat detection + SIEM + phishing protection + GW/M365 backup. $18 / user / month.
Managed Cyber Advisory (MCA) — Standard
NIST-aligned policy development, risk register, quarterly review calls. 24 advisory hrs / yr (overage at $225/hr). $450 / month flat.
